AVG is the most trusted free antivirus and anti-spyware security software for Windows. For home users are free but lately they have been adding add-ons to browsers that was driving me crazy. One of them is making you default search engine or you home page to AVG Secure Search:
Typically as tech guy I don’t like software changing my preferences so I found how to remove that option from fire fox. It may just work well with other browsers.

If you already have installed all components from AVG 2012 then here is how to remove that annoying feature:
- In Windows Control Panel find the AVG 2012 and select change:
- And then you will get to a window when you can uncheck AVG Add-Ons (uncheck that)
- After you are done you will get an message in the browser:
I tried various procedures suggested by Firefox users but this is the only one that worked to remove the AVG Secure Search on my new tabs. I now have Google every time I open a new tab! FINALLY!
